Millets join forces with local Scouts for an adventurous tent show!

This weekend Millet’s tent show will be held at Cherrygarth Campsite in Humberston, Grimsby from 10am until 4pm. As an outdoor equipment and clothing provider it made sense to involve local Scouts who will be demonstrating a variety of challenging and adventurous activities throughout the weekend.

The annual Millet’s tent show will display the usual range of tents and equipment and the Scouts will be on hand to demonstrate not only their own outdoor knowledge but also some of the activities that Scouting has to offer.

Involving the Scouts will promise to make it an action packed weekend full of fun and adventure. Activities that will be demonstrated and on offer for the public to try out include a climbing wall, archery and air rifle shooting.

Joint organiser of the event JJ said “A tent pitching challenge will also take place on the Saturday, and we are looking for some willing members of the public to come down and take on a Scout team, to see who can pitch their tent the fastest”

The event also coincides with ‘Love Parks Week’ which this year runs from 14th-22nd June. The aim of the week is for local green spaces to be opened up for the public to enjoy. The local Scout council’s contribution to the national campaign was to open up the local campsite and enable member’s of the public to enjoy the activities the fun and the space as much as the local young people involved in Scouting do.

Spokesperson for Scouting locally Mike Connor was “delighted that Scouting was making connections with the local community”. He went on to say that “we have such a spacious and peaceful campsite down here that we wanted to share it with the local people and give them a taster for Scouting at the same time”.
