Cycling in the rain is fun... when your feet are so wet the water sloshes from the front to the back of your trainers each time the peddle turns... when you are so muddy you don't care anymore..... when you encounter 6 deer on the cycle track who looked as surprised to see us as we were to see them... when you know there's a hot shower, cup of tea and clean clothes at the end of the ride!

Phoenix (Afon) Explorer Scouts from Cardiff have just got back from a weekend based at Botany Bay campsite in the Wye Valley. We conquered the Forest of Dean cycle route on Saturday, and then spend this morning orienteering and constructing bridges in the sunshine, with a small amount of sleep inbetween. Do I feel refreshed for Monday - only if I get a good nights sleep tonight! Would I have missed it? not likely!
