Sponsored Cycle Ride for 3 charities

A group of us from 17th Stretford 1st Lostock (Quest) Scout Group - Leaders, helpers, Scouts - have decided to cycle from our group headquarters in Stretford to Gilwell Park to raise money for 3 charities: the Genesis Appeal, as one of the cyclists - who is also a helper in our Beaver section - spent much of 2007 being treated for breast cancer; the 5 Star Scanner Appeal and our own Scout Group. (The Beavers are also raising funds throughout 2008 for the Genesis Appeal and the 5 Star Scanner Appeal by holding their own sponsored bike ride round the local park, along with other activities). We are aiming to do the ride in 3 days - approx 65/70 miles each day - staying at campsites along the way - who have all kindly let us stay for free! Other members of the group have volunteered to be our support team for the event. As well as collecting sponsors on forms, we will also have colecting boxes from the 2 charities for the public to donate as we cycle along and stop en-route. We are designing a team top and are arranging for press coverage of the event. Training is going well - well on a Sunday at any rate - though the 12% gradient hill in Ashbourne last week was a killer! If only the Penines weren't in the way!
