Volunteering with The Scout Association
The Scout Association offers challenge and adventure to young people and helps them to fulfil their potential by working in teams, taking responsibility and learning by doing.
This is delivered through a youth programme that is open to all young people aged 6-25. It is made possible by our dedicated adult volunteers. Our volunteers…
Our challenge…
Even with 100,000 adult volunteers we still have over 40,000 young people on waiting lists across the Country waiting to take part in Scouting. And that is where you come in. We are looking for enthusiastic adult volunteers who can help us offer adventure and opportunities for more young people within their local communities… and to join the adventure themselves!
So why should I volunteer?
Without our adult volunteers we could not deliver the youth programme we currently offer and would not be able to meet our aims of increasing the opportunities available for young people. In fact, Scouting simply could not exist without the skills and enthusiasm of thousands of adult helpers.
Whether you have several hours a week or a year or you are looking for a one off volunteering project there are opportunities for you to contribute to what we do and have fun! We have opportunities local to you ranging from Leader to treasurer, website designer to volunteer manager and we offer opportunities based on the time you can give and your skills and interests.
What is in it for me?
We hope you will have fun and enjoy the opportunity to meet other people. We will also offer you a wide range of personal development opportunities including externally recognised training and qualifications. We offer a training scheme that allows you to participate and develop in areas such as leadership, management, working with young people and practical skills. Again, this is based around your time commitments, your existing skills and your own personal development.
The contribution our volunteers make to their communities is recognised outside The Scout Association and our partnerships with the Institute of Leadership and Management, the Open College Network and the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning are all recognition of the quality and standard our volunteers maintain.
So what next?
